About La Torre del Mirador

For those thousands who have strolled along the promenade in front of the Disney-esque Bahia del Duque Hotel, the coastline pavement provided one of the nicest ways to spend a sunny afternoon on one of those purpose-less strolls, unhurried by either time, or the presence of pesky pr’s.

La Torre del Mirador restaurant fronts the pretty labyrinth of the Centro Comercial El Mirador. Passing strollers will merely eye a favourable spot to sit and watch like-minded walkers. The terrace seating area does provide the best tableside views over arguably the south’s best beach. But to leave the praise at that would be missing the point. With such an advantageous position, even if the food and service were below par, which it isn’t, the place would be jam-packed throughout the day regardless. It’s therefore a credit to the management that standards are high in both regards.

The menu is extensive with meat, fish and rice dishes - personal recommendations include Beef fillet skewer with almond croquettes, and Shoulder of lamb Segovian style. There are plenty of lighter alternatives for midday, including a number of ‘boards’ with selections of hams, sausages and cheeses; for me, picky food in warm sunshine with a fabulous view is lunchtime nirvana.

The food is delivered thoughtfully presented and with surprising haste considering the size of the restaurant. A little exploration will uncover nearly a dozen inside rooms all decorated to different styles. Downstairs, the outside area is reserved for evening meals, with a side order of light entertainment on hand most nights, if that’s your thing. Also downstairs is a little bodega, no more than a handful of bare tables around a small bar.

It’s actually quite hard to fault La Torre del Mirador although so far I have to admit that I’ve only partaken of a few lunches there, but if the evening waiters and chefs are on par with their daytime counterparts, despite the high seating accommodation reservations are going to be vital in the near future, day and night.

Cannot speak too highly of this establishment. Booking is necessary generally in the evenings. Closed Tuesdays. Absolutely stunning setting, very romantic, with millions of fairylights cascading down rock faces, food is absolutely superb...    Read More
