LOS CRISTIANOS MARKET
What: The biggest market in the south has a sea of stalls selling a mixed bag of clothes, crafts, toys and games, household goods and souvenirs. If you can’t find a bargain, you ain’t looked hard enough.
Where: Next to the Arona Gran Hotel.
When: Sunday from 9am till 2pm.
How: Bus 450, 464, 470, 473 and 483.

COSTA ADEJE MARKET
What: A mixed bag of clothes, crafts, toys and games, household goods, souvenirs. €10 Rolex watches a speciality.
Where: Opposite the El Duque Shopping Centre and Gran Hotel Costa Adeje.
When: Thursdays and Saturdays from 9am till 2pm.
How: Buses 416, 417 and 441.

ALCALA MARKET
What: Another mixed bag of bits and bobs but without the masses.
Where: In the village square.
When: Monday from 9am till 2pm.
How: Bus 473.

LOS ABRIGOS MARKET
What: The usual suspects of stallholders selling much of the same as the big boys, but doing business under a starry sky.
Where: In the village square.
When: Tuesday from 5pm till 9pm.
How: Bus 470, 460 and 486.

EL MEDANO MARKET
What: A mixed bag of… you get the picture. A few more arty goods are also available at this small market.
Where: In the plaza behind the town beach.
When: Saturday from 9am till 2pm.
How: Bus 464, 470 and 483.

GOLF DEL SUR MARKET
What: Guess?
Where: Next to the Hotels Agua Marina, Albatros and Santa Barbara.
When: Friday from 9am till 2pm.
How: Bus 470 and 483.

SAN ISIDRO MARKET
What: Bric-a-brac, jumble and local produce. Bartering is compulsory.
Where: In the church plaza in the centre of town.
When: Friday from 5pm till 9pm.
How: Bus 450, 470 and 116.

PLAYA SAN JUAN MARKET
What: More of the same plus a good selection of local fruit and vegetables, flowers and plants.
Where: On the main road, at the Los Gigantes end of Playa San Juan.
When: Wednesday and Sunday from 9am till 2pm
How: Bus 473

GAUAZA MARKET
What: More of a car boot sale than a market, but hugely popular. You’ll find everything from second-hand books and CDs to three-piece-suites and fridge/freezers. It’s amazing what you can get in a car boot!
Where: Behind the petrol station off the main Guaza to Las Galletas road.
When: Sunday morning, from 6.30am to 2pm.
How: Bus 467 and 470.

LA LAGUNA MARKET
What: A municipal market selling every type of fruit imaginable, a bold array of vegetables, spectacular seafood displays plus many other colourful delights including exotic flowers. On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday you can also fill your basket with shoes, clothes and even farm livestock (bring a big basket) at the Agricultural Market.
Where: Plaza de Adelantado, next to the court house.
When: Daily from 9am till 2pm.
How: Bus 101, 102, 014 and 015.

SANTA CRUZ MARKET (The market of our Senora de Africa)
What: The main market of the capital, the Mercado Municipal Nuestra Senora de Africa, as it’s officially called (we’ll just call it Santa Cruz market!) has been serving city-dwellers and visitors with fish, meat and greens for over 60 years. On Sundays you’ll also find a flea market selling leather goods, crafts and fleas. Just joking about the fleas.
Where: Behind the bus station at the end of Calle Bethencourt y Molina. Look for the pink clock tower.
When: Every day from 6am till 3pm
How: Bus 101, 102, 103, 110, 111, 115 and 116.

TACORONTE MARKET
What: A farmer’s market offering local produce at bargain prices, such as fruit, vegetables, cheese, honey, fish and local wine. Pet goats and live chickens available to buy, on request (check your onboard flight allowance first!)
Where: On the main road from Tacoronte to Valle Guerra San Juan.
When: Saturday and Sunday from 9am till 2pm
How: Bus 51
